Yvan Navy Mandaluyong

We used to go here at least once every two weeks when Yvan Navy opened their Barangka drive Mandaluyong branch last May 2016. Yvan Navy has always been recommended to us but we haven't have time to visit since there's no branch near where we live. We've been hearing good reviews prior to the opening of the said branch from our colleagues about the cheap but great burger and their kebab so we were excited that they finally have a branch in Mandaluyong and their location is only like two blocks away from our home. After a few months of not visiting their Mandaluyong branch anymore due to busy schedule, last week we were craving for their yummy burgers and kebab rice so we paid them a visit.

It was already late, it's almost midnight, there are only two or three (groups) tables occupied and they are almost done eating. The place is not crowded unlike before or maybe because it is in the middle of the week I guess, we ordered right away since we know that it will took several minutes for our orders to be prepared but since there were just two new additional customers, me with my beau and another family with three adults and 2 kids I expected a little that it will be much faster than the usual.

So we sat down after placing our order, Yvan Navy is so affordable we only paid around 200 plus for four our orders: Quarter pounder, cheese quesadilla, shawarma rice, and the epic carbonarra.

I hate to say this but our last week's visit, we were quite disappointed for the following reasons:

(1) First, we waited for 40 mins or so, almost an hour for our orders, considering that they only need to process only two batches of customers which I mentioned earlier (me with beau and another family with three adults and 2 kids). As soon as the orders were served we immediately dig in. We were waiting for it for almost an hour so we were already starving. I ordered the Shawarma rice and the cheese quesadilla on the side and to be shared with my beau. He had the quarter pounder and the carbonarra.

(2) The quarter pounder is way too smaller compared to what we're having before. I'm not sure if they mixed up the order because the other table seems have bigger burgers than what we got, I overheard that they order the quarter pounder too. Beau said it tastes okay so we didn't bother having it replaced, or else we might wait for another forty minutes haha.
This is the quarter pounder, it seems that it is smaller compared to what we were getting before but in all fairness it still taste good to think that you're just paying for it for only 60 pesos.

(3) The cheese quasadilla is very cheap compared to other popular restaurants but however the tortillas were over burnt seems that they were rushing but again it took 40 minutes so again we didn't complain.
Cheese Quesadilla for only 50 pesos, this one's a little overburnt that you can actually taste the burnt tortilla, sadly, it was not like this before.
(3) Shawarma rice was okay, but the meat is a little overcooked and the sauce seems weird, it's cold. Yes cold as if it was from a fridge then smothered on the meat. I'm not sure if it is suppose to be like this. Will not complain though, weirdly, it tastes okay or is it because I'm starving? :)
Shawarma rice, for only 50 pesos. This one's new I think since I haven't seen this way back when they opened last year. So for curiosity's sake I tried it.

(4) Lastly, this would be the reason why I'm writing this blog about Yvan Navy. I'm pretty sure the pasta should be not served cold. As soon as beau started tasting the carbonarra, his face became awkward. I asked him how was the pasta, he said to me "taste it", I was surprised, it is cold. Is it the sauce? Is it the pasta? Unfortunately both. The sauce tastes okay but why on earth would they serve cold pasta? Beau suddenly stood up, went to the cashier and brought his plate. I waited patiently and he returned with the money we paid for the pasta. He said, he was asking the staff if they have microwave oven to please reheat the pasta since it was cold (the plate itself is cold too haha). The three of them were stunned and didn't answer right away, another staff who is sitting nearby the counter said that they don't have a microwave oven since the last one broke. They were looking at the back maybe looking for the cook on how to fix it up but there was no answer on the kitchen, we're not sure why. Another staff suggested to change the item meaning we will have to wait again so beau didn't accept the offer. He just want to atleast reheat the food but unfortunately it's a no go. Good thing the lady on the cashier offered him to just refund the payment and so beau accepted it. So he ended up not fully satisfied with what we ate.

I'm sorry to say but this was so disappointing. Sadly, the carbonarra was served cold liked it came right from the fridge.

I'm not sure if we will be going back again in this place, or maybe we can still try but it may took a long time because of the mishaps and unfortunately they were not even apologetic about it. Why would we have to wait for so long and not getting decent cooked (and hot) food. We hope that this will be an isolated case and the other branch would be not like this.

(Bonus) We also noticed that the tables and chairs have dusts everywhere. It seems that haven't wiped the dining tables and chairs for a long time. Good thing I am not wearing light colored shirt and shorts or else I'm gonna end up cleaning the dusts involuntarily.
